Before recovery, I thought I had to figure everything out on my own. I believed my strength came from my own efforts, and if I failed, it was because I wasn’t good enough. But through the 12 Steps and my journey with God, I learned a great truth—I am not alone, and everything I am is a gift from God. My life, my strength, and my recovery all come from Him. Now, my purpose is clear: to share what I have received and reach out to others with encouragement, Scripture, and an invitation to know God's love.
Realizing Everything Comes from God
At first, I didn’t see God's hand in my life. I thought I had to work harder, be stronger, and prove my worth. But recovery taught me to slow down and look at where my help truly came from. When I was at my lowest, it wasn’t my own strength that pulled me up—it was God working through my sponsor, my home group, and the 12 Steps.
As I walked this path, I saw how God provided everything I needed. He gave me wisdom when I was confused. He gave me peace when I was afraid. He gave me strength when I wanted to give up. I finally understood: All that I am, I have received from God.
Recovery Taught Me to Share
In the past, I kept my struggles to myself. I didn’t think anyone could understand. But in recovery, I saw how others’ stories helped me heal. When someone shared their experience, I felt less alone. When they spoke of God's love, I felt hope grow in my heart.
Now, I know it's my turn to do the same. God didn’t heal me so I could keep it to myself. He blessed me so I could bless others. Just as I received encouragement, now I must encourage. Just as I received wisdom, now I must share it.
Ways to Reach Out
Every day is an opportunity to share God’s love. Here are some ways I have learned to do this:
Encouraging Others Sometimes, all someone needs is a kind word. A simple “I believe in you” or “You’re not alone” can lift a heavy heart. I make it a goal to check in on people in my life. A quick text or phone call can remind someone that they are loved.
Sharing Scripture God’s Word has given me strength on my hardest days. When fear tries to take over, I remember, “Fear not, for I am with you” (Isaiah 41:10). When I feel lost, I hold onto, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart” (Proverbs 3:5). I have learned that sharing Scripture isn’t about preaching—it’s about offering the same hope that once lifted me.
Inviting Others to Learn About God’s Love Some people don’t know where to start with faith. Maybe they’ve been hurt. Maybe they think God has forgotten them. I used to feel that way too. That’s why I invite others, without pressure, to explore who God is. It could be a meeting, a church service, or even just a conversation over coffee. The important thing is to let them know they are welcome.
A Life of Giving Back
Recovery showed me that a full life isn’t about taking—it’s about giving. I no longer live only for myself. Instead, I wake up each day asking, “Who can I help today?” That is the heart of recovery and faith—receiving God's love and passing it on.
Everything I have—peace, wisdom, strength—I have received from Him. Now, my job is to share it. And so is yours. Reach out to someone today. Offer encouragement, share a verse, or invite them to learn more about God's love. You never know whose heart might be touched because you took a step of faith.

You gottawanna love and be at peace
