Facing the truth upfront rather than turning from it will keep your life moving in a forward and positive direction. Most of us have had the experience of knowing something true but being afraid to share it because we worry others won't like it. We might also have times when we can't handle a truth about ourselves. It could be a small truth, like not wanting to see our car needs fixing because we don’t want to pay for repairs. Or it could be a big truth, like not fully accepting someone close to us is pushing us away. Often, the truth is clear. We can see it if we look, but we find ways to hide it from ourselves.
Many times, we avoid the truth because it scares us, makes us angry, or makes us feel lost. We build our lives on what we think is true, and if that turns out to be wrong, we might feel like our whole world is falling apart. It takes a strong person to face the truth in these moments, and many of us hide instead. But we can only hide for so long before the truth finds a way to show itself, even more forcefully.
Working the 12 Steps taught me to confront the truth, no matter how scary or uncomfortable. With the help of my Higher Power, sponsor, and my Al-Anon home group, I learned that facing the truth is the first step toward healing and growth. They showed me that avoiding reality only prolongs the pain and confusion. By embracing the truth, even when it's hard, I found strength and clarity to move forward in my life.
Facing the truth isn't always easy, but with support from God and my recovery community,
I've learned that it's the path to true freedom and peace. It's about accepting things as they are, learning from them, and growing stronger because of them.

You gottawanna live happy and free - I love you.
