Life is full of moments that shape us. Some bring joy, while others leave wounds that take time to heal. Sometimes, an event is so powerful that we carry it with us for years. It could be the loss of someone we love, a painful truth we had to face, or a sudden change that turned our world upside down. These moments can teach us valuable lessons, but they can also weigh us down if we do not know how to let go of what no longer serves us.
I learned this lesson through my journey with God and Al-Anon. For a long time, I held on to pain, guilt, and fear. I thought that if I pushed my emotions aside, I could move forward without being affected by the past. But deep down, those buried feelings were still there. They showed up in my fears, my reactions, and my struggles to trust. No matter how much I tried to ignore them, they continued to take up space in my heart.
God, in His wisdom, does not want us to carry burdens we no longer need. He wants us to live in freedom, healing, and peace. Through prayer and reflection, I began to see that some things in my life were holding me back. My pain was like a heavy box I carried everywhere. It left no room for the good things God wanted to give me—things like love, joy, and hope.
Al-Anon helped me understand this more clearly. In the program, I learned that I did not have to hold onto old wounds and fears. I had the power to release them, step by step, with the help of my Higher Power. The 12 Steps guided me in this process. By working through them, I found the courage to look at my past honestly. I admitted what hurt me, forgave what needed forgiving, and let go of what I could not control.
Clearing away what no longer serves us is not always easy. It takes time and willingness to face what we have ignored. But as I walked this path, I discovered something amazing: when we let go of the things that weigh us down, we create space for healing. It is like cleaning out a cluttered room. At first, it feels overwhelming, but once we start, we begin to see how much lighter and freer we feel.
God and Al-Anon gave me the tools to do this inner work. They showed me that I did not have to hold onto the past in order to honor it. I could cherish the lessons and memories while making room for new growth. By clearing away what no longer serves us, we allow renewal to take place. We open ourselves to love, peace, and a deeper connection with God.
Today, I live with more clarity and lightness in my heart. When difficult memories surface, I no longer push them down. Instead, I bring them to God, ask for guidance, and trust that He will continue to heal me. I also lean on my Al-Anon fellowship for support and wisdom.
If you find yourself holding onto something that no longer serves you, know that you are not alone. Healing is possible. With faith, willingness, and the right support, you can let go of the weight and make space for something better. God’s love is always there, ready to renew and restore you.

If you are stuck in the past and keep looking back with hate and anger how can you really walk in peace with God and love those who you get to share your path with today.
Let go and Let God you gottawanna live with peace and love. I love you travel safe.
