How Alcoholics Anonymous Helped Me Choose Love Over Hate

Have you ever felt stuck in a tough situation and didn't know how to make things better? Well, I want to tell you about a special group called Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) that helped me change my life for the better. AA taught me that even when things seem really tough, we can make a positive change by having a good attitude and helping others. In this article, I'll share my story about how AA made a big difference in my life.

**Positive Attitude Can Make a Difference:**

First, let's talk about attitude. When I was struggling with alcohol, I had a negative attitude about everything. I thought the world was against me. But AA taught me that if you're not positive, you're negative. This means that if you don't try to see the good in things, you'll always focus on the bad stuff. So, I decided to change my attitude and look for the positive things in life.

**Helping Others Helps You:**

One of the important things I learned in AA is that helping others can make you feel better. At first, I didn't understand how this worked. But then, I started to help other people in the AA group. I shared my experiences and listened to theirs. I realized that when you help someone else, it takes your mind off your own problems. It's like a magic trick – by helping others, you start to feel better yourself.

**Choosing Love Over Hate:**

Another big lesson I learned in AA is that it's better to choose love over hate. When I was drinking, I often felt angry and hated myself for the mistakes I'd made. But in AA, I met people who had made similar mistakes, and they showed me love and support instead of hate. This made me realize that we all make mistakes, but we can choose to love and help each other instead of hating ourselves.

**My Journey with AA:**

My journey with AA was not easy. It took a lot of hard work and determination. I had to attend meetings regularly, talk to my sponsor, and follow the 12 steps of AA. These steps helped me understand why I was drinking and how to make better choices.

Over time, I started to feel better physically and mentally. I built new friendships with people who understood what I was going through. We shared our stories, laughed, and cried together. It felt like a big family where everyone cared for each other.

Alcoholics Anonymous taught me that a positive attitude, helping others, and choosing love over hate can make a big difference in your life. If you or someone you know is struggling with alcohol or any other problem, don't be afraid to reach out for help. There are people and groups like AA that can offer support and guidance on the journey to a better life. Remember, it's never too late to change and make a positive difference in your life and the lives of others. You gottawanna heal and move on.
