When I first joined Al-Anon, I felt lost. My family member struggled with alcohol, and I didn't know how to help or what to do. I prayed a lot, asking God for help. Al-Anon taught me that God does answer prayers, but we also need to put in the work and take action.
At Al-Anon meetings, I learned that simply praying is not enough. We have to take steps to make things better. I began to understand that God wants us to be active in our own lives. Here’s what I learned:
1. **Show Up**: The first step was going to Al-Anon meetings regularly. By showing up, I was taking the first step to change. I met people who were going through the same thing. We supported each other and shared our stories.
2. **Listen and Share**: At the meetings, I listened to others and shared my own experiences. This helped me feel less alone and gave me new ideas on how to handle problems.
3. **Use the Tools**: Al-Anon taught me tools to help cope with difficult situations. I learned to set boundaries and take care of myself. This was hard at first, but with practice, it got easier.
4. **Pray and Act**: I continued to pray, but I also took action. I prayed for strength and guidance, and then I did my best to follow through. If I prayed for patience, I worked on being patient in real-life situations.
5. **Trust the Process**: Sometimes, I didn't see results right away. But I learned to trust that things would get better over time if I kept working at it. Slowly, I noticed positive changes in my life and in my family.
6. **Help Others**: As I got stronger, I started helping others in the group. This made me feel good and reinforced the lessons I learned. It reminded me that we are all in this together.
By combining prayer with action, I saw real changes. God did answer my prayers, but it wasn’t magic. It required effort and patience. Al-Anon showed me that we have the power to make things better, with God’s help and by taking steps ourselves.
Now, I feel more confident and hopeful. I know that when I pray and take action, good things can happen. Al-Anon helped me see that we are not alone and that we can make a difference in our lives. You gottawanna be of service to your Higher Power and help others. Love is an action. We love you enjoy the journey move on stop hating.
